Hello and welcome!
I’m Ivan, owner of Soil Starter. This website was started in 2019 when I saw many of my colleagues and clients from the digital marketing sphere easily develop their own websites, so I thought I could start my own. I use this place to write guides, and share my thoughts on agriculture and related industries. In the future I’d like to interview people from this field. I believe sharing firsthand inside stories and experiences is important in empowering others to do their own thinking and their own research.
I like thinking and writing about everything agriculture-related. I love engineering and tech, but also tradition and preserving knowledge that is in danger of fading away. I’m trying hard not to be too much of a perfectionist, be more action-driven and less analytical. One of my goals in life is to produce or help others produce a clean environment and health-promoting, nutritious food.
I’ve been nurturing a passion for cooking since 2017 and hope to share some new recipes with my audience in the future.
I like researching, learning and teaching, writing guides and keeping a log of my thoughts and ideas. Sometimes, I use this website to share my personal opinions. If you encounter a content piece on this website that is mostly written for sharing my personal views, it will be clearly marked as such (op-ed).
If you encounter anything you particularly like or dislike, I’m always open to feedback. Please be aware that I will sometimes report findings that I don’t have a way of confirming or denying for validity. I will try to link to sources when a link is available or if it’s a physical book, it will be cited.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Belgrade University since 2017. My study program and specialization was in soil and water sciences. If you have difficult questions regarding irrigation, drainage or fertilizer usage, I might be able to help out. I love discussing genetics and cultivars, food production trends and the impacts of agriculture on human health.
My weak points and blind spots are found in these topics: animal husbandry & zootechnics, phytomedicine, high-level hydraulics, mechanics and construction, economics, analytical chemistry. Feel free to reach out and leave a comment if you have any suggestions or want to share a story of your own.
